This year will mark the seventh year in a row the Brotherhood will be exhibiting at the San Diego Comic-Con.
The number seven has held powerful meanings throughout history, to the Sumerians it represented the seven sages, to the fairies it’s the number of years between when the queen must pay her tithe to hell, and to the Brotherhood it represents the year of change.

Each year we use our booth at the San Diego Comic -Con to both advertise our X-Sanguin event on Saturday night, as well as promote artists and groups that contribute to the popular arts, which is what Comic-Con is all about.

We have an incredible number of exciting changes in our booth at the San Diego Comic-Con, as well as ,X-Sanguin, our yearly after hours event on Saturday.

Bio from Dark Horse Comics
Sparkling as polished chrome, slick as oiled leather, hard as a scorned woman's stare, the poster art of R. Black is renowned for its elegant line, razor-sharp design, and dark pulp motifs, creating an instantly recognizable synergy of cool elegance and hot eroticism. R. Black's dark world is a steamy landscape of leggy sirens, gleaming bikes, spiked heels, and leather-clad devils. Black's voluminous catalog of work includes striking images created for Bauhaus, Elvis Costello, Misfits, GWAR, Ministry, and countless more, plus numerous album covers, t-shirt designs, and magazine covers, plus a memorable series of images for Original Sin Hard Cider, featured in this volume. Futura: The Art of R. Black is the first published collection of Black's striking designs. Foreword by Brian Ewing.

Having come a long way from browsing the bewitching nose art of vintage war birds at the local Air Force museum, Andrew Bawidamann is creating contemporary cheesecake pin-up art through his graphically oriented girls. Although his girls are reminiscent of a time when men were overseas at war, depending on their pin-up prints to satisfy, Bawidamann’s girls offe r much appeal to today’s soldiers, tattoo artists, bikers, rockers and just about anyone with a fetish!

molly-n.png

Molly learned to draw in a Parisian bookstore. She later drew her way through Morocco and Kurdistan, and once into a Turkish jail. Back in New York, she got her first illustration job doing covers for SCREW Magazine. She now wields her drawing pen for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Playgirl, as well as jugglers, fire-eaters, and bloggers(?) that sell used panties. Equally adept at drawing sexy dames, whimsical kids illustrations and biting editorial, Molly would very much like to wield her pen for your project. Despite an "erotic" sense of humor, Molly has illustrated two children's books for Umbrelly Press.

In December 2005, Molly founded Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School . Disappointed by the dull life drawing classes she'd posed for, Molly built Dr. Sketchy's on the principles of fair pay for models and boozy fun for all. Artists draw burlesque dancers, compete in contests, and win liquor and prizes. Dr. Sketchy's scooped up copious media love from places like The LA Times, The Washington Post, the Village Voice, BBC, WNBC, The New Yorker, Nikkei Trendy (Japan), The San Francisco Chronicle, La Republicca (Italy), the National Post (Toronto), and countless other media outlets across the world.

In July 2006, Dr. Sketchy's went from Brooklyn event to international movement. Sister Sketchy's have sprung up nearly fifty cities across the world, including in Hollywood, London, Edinburgh, Rome, Toronto, Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland. These Dr. Sketchy's receive juicy press devotion of their own.

Molly's first book, Dr. Sketchy's Official Rainy Day Colouring Book, was released by Sepulculture Publishing in December 2006. You should buy a copy. Sepulculture also released Dr. Sketchy's 2008 Pinup Calender, which is chock full of Molly drawings.

Over the years, The Brotherhood ha created a wide range of events, with themes ranging from Under a Black Flag to Moulin Rouge, and has incorporated locations including the sailing ship used in Master and Commander and a 100 year old stone church in the heart of San Diego. Their annual Comic-Con event, however, has become the most recognized and well-attended after-party event at the San Diego Comic-Con, apart from the annual Masquerade, with over 900 guests in attendance.

The event, known as X-Sanguin, incorporates a theme built on an evolving mythology about vampires and the human struggle against them. This theme has expanded and varied with each new Comic-Con: from asian mythology to secret society intrigue, from Cold War-era Soviet Union to cybernetic visions of the future. Each new year brings a new vision and experience around the theme of an alternate, dark reality to be experienced by Brotherhood guests.

With an emphasis on creativity and detail, The Brotherhood strives to highlight the things that make Comic-Con special: costumes, imagination, creativity and decadence. To that end, for a single night X-Sanguin brings together a unique collection of individuals and gives them the opportunity to revel in their distinctly dark and unique vision of how things might have been.

This year's theme highlights imagery of a society in the midst of a deadly pandemic viral outbreak: a world where protection is bought at the cost of isolation. With X-Sanguin VII, The Brotherhood brings you a distinctly dark and imaginative look at the fetish world of gas masks, bio-suits and medical gear. Enjoy at your own risk.
